  • Overview

    The Site Medical Specialist will provide clinical and emergency medical treatment at a land based seafood processing plant in Alaska.  Responsible for management and coordination of health and OSHA medical regulatory compliance on the Site and implement a healthy work culture consistent with corporate policies and objectives. Position reports to the Safety Manger but will interface with site HR Liaison, Director of Safety and Compliance as well as the Sr. Claims Manager.




    • Administer first aid; respond to medical issues and emergencies for approx. 350 employees
    • Work with all departments to maintain healthy work environment and ensure that they are followed
    • Maintain appropriate medical and claims-related records and reports, including:
      • Appropriate medical claim forms
      • Maintain site-specific OSHA 300/301 Logs
      • Maintain appropriate medical-related records and reports
      • Maintain medical logs for employees visiting the First Aid Office
    • Assists with random and situational drug screening specimen sample collection
    • Order and maintain inventory of First Aid medical supplies
    • Works with Safety Manager to oversee PPE usage and training on their use
    • Participates in emergency drills and weekly safety/health meetings
    • Adheres/implements all Icicle rules, policies and practices
    • Interacts professionally with employees, visitors and guests
    • Maintains a positive attitude in stressful work situations
    • Other duties as assigned



    • EMT, ETT, Advanced CPR/First Aid, or Nursing certification preferred
    • Previous seafood industry experience preferred
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision
    • Proven ability to work cooperatively within all levels of management to maintain a team like atmosphere
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills required
    • Microsoft Office skills required
    • Prompt, reliable and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job
    • Able to work well under pressure, 12 or more hours a day, 7 days a week
    • Must be able to live and work in sometimes close quarters areas in remote Alaska
    • Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
    • Able to work with a large diverse work force of employees coming from different countries, cultures and religions.

    • This is a seasonal position. Typical seasons can last for approximately 2-3 months at a time

    Work Environment

    • Room, board and transportation to and from point of hire (Seattle) and work location are provided
