  • Overview

    This position oversees the Seattle based Traffic/Logistics Department to ensure timely and cost effective shipment, storage and distribution of seafood products, both domestically and internationally. This position acts as a logistics expert for the company and works very closely with both operations and sales departments to maintain positive, accurate and efficient processes upstream and downstream within the Traffic Department. Responsible for the day to day oversight of all distribution functions, training and development of staff, adherence to internal and external shipping protocol compliance, identifying and analyzing cost and performance improvement initiatives, and developing positive relationships with business partners.  This position reports to the VP of Finance and is exempt from overtime.


    • Manage the distribution team in all areas including shipment, storage and distribution of seafood product domestically and internationally.
    • Learn all functions of the traffic areas in order to direct, support and train all team members.  Proven track record of successfully managing, training and developing staff.
    • Perform financial analytics related to logistical support, cold storage requirements, custom processing and packing, and credit memos.
    • Ensure all traffic tasks are performed in accordance with internal and external protocols.  Research shipping regulations to ensure protocols and documents are in compliance with local and international regulations. 
    • Strategic analysis, review and improvement of the logistics network.  Develop a full understanding of the timing of the distribution process to work toward continuous streamlining of activities.
    • Lead negotiations with freight carriers and storage facilities on rates, terms and conditions of service agreements.  Manage vendor relationships to maintain positive working relations while ensuring cost effective solutions for Icicle’s business needs.
    • Seek out, develop and implement improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve customer service levels.
    • Liaise with other departments to maintain positive, accurate and efficient processes upstream and downstream within the traffic department.
    • Work within Transportation Management team to develop operational efficiencies, standardize where possible and manage towards strategic goals. 
    • Manage and monitor the Logistics network in a time sensitive regulated environment. 
    • Manage external providers to ensure SLAs are continually met/exceeded. Ensure billing and invoice payment is accurate and timely. 
    • Develop, monitor and analyze regional logistics network leveraging key performance indicators. 
    • Participate in critical reviews of key indicators, incidents, audits, inspection and improvement opportunities resulting in effective implementation of corrective actions. 
    • Develop Training Plans for new employees and ensure all training development plans for current employees are created and completed in a timely manner. 
    • Create professional, concise and accurate reports and presentations.
    • Ad Hoc projects and analysis as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • A minimum of 10 years of logistics and distribution experience at either a senior or management level.
    • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
    • Working knowledge of FDA, USDC and international regulations to ensure compliance with all shipping requirements.
    • Knowledge and familiarity with shipping perishable goods both domestically and internationally.
    • Familiarity with all modes of transportation, including surface and air.
    • Experience in third-party logistics.
    • Strong negotiation skills and organizational influence.
    • Ability to accurately and succinctly explain complex logistics and supply chain concepts.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work with a wide range of personalities and within all levels of the organization.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, math and accounting skills.
    • Intermediate to advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills. TMS software experience preferred.
    • Seafood industry experience preferred.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills.
    • Able to plan, multi-task and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong math and accounting skills.
    • Must be available to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as necessary.
    • Prompt regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

    Working Conditions

    • This position is based in the administrative office located in Seattle, Washington and will require prompt and reliable attendance into the office during core business hours as face time in the office is a key company value. This position will also require extended hours (mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.) in order to meet business needs.
