  • Overview

    Responsible for all accounting operations performed on board the plant.  The Office Manager will function as production accountant and payroll coordinator in addition to other duties as assigned. Reports to Plant Manager. Position is for approximately 9 months, but pre-season and post-season work will be required, if necessary.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain accurate records of all products produced and shipped on a daily basis.
    • Work with Production staff in determining appropriate production accounting/tally computations.
    • Accurately complete plant’s bi‑weekly payroll as required by Seattle Office, or direct office personnel
    • Monitor the plant’s accounting transactions so that they’ll conform to company procedures and policies.
    • Relay information to the Seattle office and other company locations as required in a timely manner.
    • Supervise a staff of four, in an office set-up to run 24 hours (during peak season).
    • Administer all communication systems (internet, PC network, UHF, VHF, telephones, and satellite radio).
    • Radio communications with Icicle vessels and fishing boats as needed.
    • Assist in the coordination of fishermen’s resale, services, and tender deliveries.
    • Accurately report daily fish purchases and the daily preparation of fish tickets, or direct office personnel Reconcile fishermen’s receivables and end-of-season settlements.
    • Oversee purchasing, shipping/receiving documentation, and plant inventory records.
    • Maintain confidential personnel and payroll records.
    • Other tasks as assigned by Plant Manager or Western Office Manager.

    Qualifications

    • Excellent organizational skills, and positive, congenial, and motivational communication skills.
    • Numerical aptitude and experience with accounting principles and practices.
    • The ability to maintain detailed, accurate, and legible records.
    • Micro-computer, spreadsheet, ten key by touch, and word processing experience required.
    • Previous payroll experience required, and knowledge of seafood industry preferred.
    • An understanding and enthusiasm for Icicle/Egegik goals and policies.
    • Must be able to work independently requiring little supervision.
    • Must be able to perform consistently well under stress - 12 or more hours/ day, 7 days/week.
    • Must be able to live and work in a remote location.

    Working Conditions

    Must be able to work 7 days a week, 12-16 hours a day in wet, cold conditions. There are areas within the plant that contain moving and loud machinery, and hearing protection and other safety and protective equipment is required.
