  • Overview

    Fishmeal Engineer/Technician will be responsible to operate meal plant to produce domestic and internationally acceptable fish meal and oil products. Must be able to operate meal plant efficiently, supervise a small crew, and advise Plant Manager of the overall operation.


    • Oversee production to attain the most efficient, cost effective operation with a focus towards overall recovery and product quality.
    • Oversee meal plant personnel in coordination with Plant, Production and Engineering Managers.
    • Ability to think independently to learn existing facility and improve performance.
    • Ensure safety of plant personnel and oversee the safe use of equipment by maintaining an accident free workplace.
    • Have the ability and gain the knowledge to perform maintenance on all motors, conveyors, valves, pumps, scales and steam associated with the meal/oil process.
    • Maintain consistently accurate parts and supply (mechanical/additive) inventories.
    • Ensure timely ordering of production parts and supplies.
    • Adhere to Product Quality Expectations.
    • Knowledge of or Ability to learn Domestic and International Import Specifications.
    • Maintain consistent written documentation on employee performance.
    • Other related duties as assigned


    • Applicants should be ambitious with a strong interest in the seafood industry.
    • Have some knowledge and ability to perform maintenance, dis-assembly, re-assembly, adjustments and replacement wear items on.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Ability to work well under pressure, 12 or more hours per day, 7 days per week.
    • Must be able to work with other department personnel in a team like atmosphere.
    • Must be able to live and work in confined quarters.
    • Must be willing to commit to a minimum of 2 years with scheduled rotations.
